Cinco De Mayo Party Prep

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Are you having a get together today? If so, here are a few quick and easy party prep tips along with some delicious recipes, by a special guest blogger!

I know that we don’t need an excuse to drink a margarita, but in honor of Cinco De Mayo,  I thought I’d give you some tips on how to liven up the mood on the deck today, for a little drinking fun with friends.

Step 1

We need some festive decor

As you know, I am Mexican-American, and I happen to have some authentic decorations lying around, but don’t fret, because if you don’t have any, I can show you where I bought a few of the other items.

If you have an authentic Serape to use as a runner, great! If not, anything colorful will do.

These colorful bamboo placements were a gift at our wedding.

These adorable little cactus statues are from a store named Nadeau. They are located in Homewood, and were under $20!! They can also be found online.

I am also super excited that I scored these margarita glasses for $6!! You heard me right! Head to your local Dollar Tree… NOW!

Step 2

We need a yummy taco and margarita recipe… Am I right?!?!

This is where my beloved friend, Whitney, from Love Bake Eat is going to help. She is the most fantastic cook, and she lives in Miami, and has known this girl (ME) for a really long time- so, she’s practically Mexican LOL!

Check out her fish taco recipe (that you can do in any meat of your choice, or veggie) and this yummy take on a margarita. Your party is already on the way to being fantastic!

Step 3

Mexican Music

I am personally going to be listening to this record, by Linda Ronstadt, which was a gift from my hubby.

If you’ve never heard of her, she’s worth looking up. All I knew about her, before Adam did his research, was that my grandpa used to love this record. When I told Adam about it, I didn’t know the name of any of the songs; I just kept saying that I would know them if I heard them. He, secretly, did his research, and when it arrived in the mail, I was very surprised! We listened to it, and it was even more beautiful in person. It made me cry those heavy, happy, tears, while remembering my beloved grandparents.

Adam doesn’t speak Spanish, but he really enjoys the music on this record. He said that it makes him feel a connection with my grandpa. I would say that it’s a very special record, even if you don’t understand the lyrics.

You could always just hit up Spotify or Pandora and look for a Cinco De Mayo or Mariachi playlist.

Dont forget to light some candles, and relax and enjoy the fiesta!!

Con mucho amor,

Priscilla 🙂
