Duchess Decor Inspiration

Aaaaahhh, wouldn’t you love to be a grand Duchess, and have access to the royal collection of antiques and castles! I know that I would.
I have always been a huge fan of Victorian era decor, ever since a little girl, hence I love gold mirrors. I feel as though I was born in the wrong era.

Another tidbit about me, that you may not have known, is that I am obsessed with the life and style of the Royal Family. You may think that’s a bit cheesy, but I really enjoy it.

Recently, I was wondering, what would The Duchess Catherine have in her home (as far as decor). Our birthday’s are a day apart, we have similar clothing styles, and we both like blue-eyed, blond-haired boys. I notice that she’s sporty, as I enjoy being, and I feel like maybe her home decor would resonate with me as well.

So, I’ve done some research and digging. I’ll start off by saying, obviously, that none of these pictures belong to me. They are all acquired via Pinterest.

I know that no one has seen my finished projects yet, my living room and bedroom, but I have done a complete overhaul with the decor. They just need a few finishing touches, and they will be ready for viewing!! Maybe I can throw in a few “Royal” looking pieces.

Anyways, I found a sneak peek into The Cambridge’s living area, from when they hosted The Obama’s, at their Kensington Palace apartment.

To say that I was ecstatic is an understatement!!

Without further adue…

Kensington palace! Now doesn’t that just make me want to kick myself in the behind because I traded out our cream sofa. Well, I’m learning to live with the dark grey Finding a Sofa In An Unlikely PlaceI do like it, but a cream sofa always has my heart.

I also notice a lot of the blue and white pottery that I love so much!  I have been wanting to collect these type of pieces since I was younger. (So, if any of you need a gift idea lol!) I love the fresh flowers, and all of the ambient lighting that the lamps provide. We use a lot of lamps in our living room as well. It creates a welcoming and homey effect. Obviously, you always want a lot of pictures of family and friends, and artwork. Those things really pull the space together.

I love how the Duchess incorporates modern with traditional. That has definitely been a goal of mine in decorating our home. Do you see that lovely lucite end table? I have been on the fence about getting one, and now I know that it will definitely work in our space!

I love her neutral space, with pops of color. She uses large candles to add to that ambient lighting too. It’s very elegant and clean.

What do you guys think of the royal style?
